USB Remote Interceptor

Control AMPS from across the room. USB Remote Interceptor lets a wireless USB remote, or the media keys on your keyboard, play, pause, stop and skip tracks in AMPS.

USB remotes are HID devices

Most USB remotes and media keyboards are HID (Human Interface Device) devices. HID is the same standard Windows uses for keyboards and mice, so these devices work as soon as you plug them in, with no driver to install.

When you press a button on the remote, it sends Windows a standard media key: the same Play/Pause, Stop, Next and Previous keys found on many keyboards. Windows then hands that key to whichever program claims it. That might be a web browser or another media player instead of AMPS.

Sending media keys to AMPS

USB Remote Interceptor runs in the background and listens for media keys across all of Windows. When it sees one, it passes the command to AMPS. This works even when AMPS is not the active window, so you can use the computer for other things and the remote still controls the music.

Commands go to AMPS Player 1. In the USB Remote Interceptor window you can choose whether the Play/Pause button pauses the track or stops it.

Requirements

• AMPS 4 installed on the same computer
• Windows 10 or Windows 11
• Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8, which is included with current versions of Windows 10 and Windows 11
• Any USB remote or keyboard with media keys
